Harald B. Findlay (Hal)
Trustee/Secretary
Harald B. Findlay (Hal) enjoyed the Katama Airfield from an early age. He obtained his pilot’s license before his driver’s license at age 17. Katama was a frequent destination until he could buy a house here in 1986. His dad owned a fixed base operation and commuter airline in Burlington, Vermont. Hal was a lineman (pumping fuel) and later a co-pilot for the airline during his summer break from Middlebury College.
Hal started his career as an accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in New York City. He received an MBA from NYU and became CPA in NYC. Subsequently, he was general manager of Northern Airways, his family’s aviation business in Burlington, Vermont. After organizing the sale of that business in 1986, he became treasurer and portfolio manager for Dwight Asset Management, an institutional asset manager. Later, he worked for over 20 years as CFO and SVP of Corporate Development for an international industrial field service business based in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Hal is currently chairman of the Commissioners of Katama Airfield. He is trustee and fleet captain of the Edgartown Yacht Club; and chairman of the Membership Committee, member of the finance committee, and governor of The Little Club in Gulf Stream, Florida.
